Two research fellows from Brighton celebrate taking top honours at a prestigious European science congress

Dr Sreejith Raveendran picked up the Young Scientist Award and Dr Dimitriy Berillo collected the Best Presentation Award from the International Association of Advanced Materials  at the European Advanced Materials Congress held in Swedish capital Stockholm.

Dr Raveendran and Dr Berillo are both Marie Skłodowska-Curie Research Fellows at the University of Brighton’s School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Science who are working together with Dr Irina Savina and other colleagues on developing novel advanced materials.

Dr Raveendran’s research focus includes the use of bionanomaterials and their application in cancer drug delivery and regenerative medicine, whilst Dr Berillo is working on the design of novel water purification systems based on macroporous hydrogels.

Welcoming news of the double win, Professor David Timson, Head of the School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Science said: “This is a fantastic achievement and important recognition of the important research being undertaken by Dr Raveendran and Dr Berillo here in Brighton.”
